Vintage 1940s Figural Oil Lamp | Drinking Man on Onyx Base | Brass Reservoir
The Unbranded Brand
Charming 1940s figural oil lamp with a drinking man, brass reservoir, and onyx base. This vintage figural oil lamp, dating to the 1940s–1950s, features a cast spelter drinking man standing beneath a brass lamp reservoir with a rich coppery patina. The top unscrews smoothly, letting you add lamp oil or replace the wick as needed. These novelty bar-themed lamps were popular mid-century and often displayed on home bars, dens, and smoking lounges. The base is carved from natural banded onyx, known for its warm peach and cream striations. The figure is crafted from spelter (a zinc alloy) with an aged dark patina, while the lamp cup and lid are brass that has developed a warm, copper-toned surface over time. A standout piece for a bar cart, speakeasy-inspired room, collector's shelf, or any eclectic vintage display. FEATURES • Circa 1940s–1950s • Cast spelter (zinc alloy) figural body • Brass reservoir + lid with coppery aged patina • Natural banded onyx stone base • Cotton wick included • Functional design; perfect for display SIZE • Height: 7.25 • Base: 3 diameter • Solid, substantial weight CONDITION Good vintage condition with age-appropriate patina to the brass and spelter. The onyx base shows natural variations and minor surface wear consistent with age. The wick is a short vintage piece and may need replacing if you plan to use the lamp. I have not tested it with oil, but the screw-off reservoir and wick mechanism appear functional. Displays beautifully.
