Japanese Fishing Rod: Hechi Rod (Otoshi-komi)
299.00 $
Description
This is a Japanese fishing rod (Hechi rod) from Ashinobu.
- 2-piece, 8-shaku length
- Weight: 168g (rod only)
The photos make it appear black, but it has a meticulous copper lacquer finish, and over the years, the nodes and other areas have developed an attractive reddish hue.
Compared to carbon rods, Japanese fishing rods are said to be less likely to cause fish to thrash when hooked, due to their natural suppleness.
I ordered this rod for black sea bream (chinu) fishing using the otoshi-komi (dropping) technique over 20 years ago, but I only used it once to test it out. I felt it was too good to waste, so I kept it stored at home ever since.
The protective case for the tip (made of bamboo) is also finished with copper lacquer, and both the rod and the protective cover are in beautiful condition.
Please consider this item only if you understand that it is a used product. I will pack it carefully using recycled materials for shipping.
Thank you for your consideration.
